Taking cognizance of the poor condition at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Dilshad Garden where students were found sitting on the floor, Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Monday ordered a disciplinary action against the school’s principal.
The minister issued directives to the Deputy Directorates of Education (DDEs) across Delhi mandating them to inspect at least five schools in their district every week with focus on ensuring the availability of basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, proper lighting, cleanliness, and sufficient quality desks.

The inspections will also assess the overall infrastructure, including doors, windows, boundary walls, and room ceilings, as well as the safety and security of the students.
She emphasized that any issues identified during these inspections must be addressed immediately. She warned officials that any recurrence of such problems, especially instances where children are made to sit on the floor despite available desks, will result in strict action.
“Providing better facilities and education to children studying in Delhi government schools is our priority, and any kind of negligence in this will not be tolerated,” Atishi stated.
