An Army man allegedly shot two of his colleagues before shooting himself at Dharamsala cantonment on Monday morning. All three are reported to be dead.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police, Kangra, Badri Singh, said that the incident was reported at Tihra Lines Cantonment Mcleodganj in the wee hours around 2.00 am.
Jasbir Singh, who was on duty, came with his service rifle and another rifle in a barrack where the victims, Havaldar Hardeep Singh of Tarantaran and Naiak Harpal Singh of Gurdaspur, were sleeping.
While the exact cause and chain of events are yet to be ascertained, it prima facie appears that there was a heated argument between the soldiers following which Jasbir Singh allegedly shot the two before shooting himself.
All three soldiers were from 18 Sikh Regiment.
Badri Singh, who visited the spot where the shooting took place, said that the investigation is on and the forensic team also visited the spot.
“We have also registered an FIR under Section 302, as nothing can be ruled out and we are exploring other angles as well. The exact cause can only be ascertained after detailed probe,” said Badri Singh.
