Drive againt casteism in schools
The campaign ‘Discrimination Free Education’ was launched in Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district wherein the orientation programme is being held for SMC members.
Concerned with improving quality education and perk up enrolment in the government-run schools, the education department through the public outreach programme will seek the assistance of alumni and achievers.
The innovative programme “Akhand Jyoti Mere School se Nikle Moti”, is set to be rolled out on August 15, under the proposed SAMARTH (Systemic State-wide Transformation Programme) Shiksha Utsav by SSA and Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE) to bring about transformation in quality of education.

The objective of the SAMARTH is to bring awareness among teachers, students, administrators, School Management Committees (SMC) and larger political and administration stakeholders for quality education.

Furthermore, it would help motivate students and teachers through inspirational journey of senior stakeholders that include alumnus and achievers.
Education Secretary Arun Sharma said, “Basically, we delved deep into the psychological aspects of students and have come up with the scheme “Akhand Jyoti Mere School se Nikle Moti”, which is not confined to the meritorious students. Nostalgia is the engine and our effort aimed at evoking the public figures and invite them to be mentors and visit the government schools for interaction.”
“Our main concern is shift of students to private schools, despite the fact that the results of our government schools are better than the private schools and also the infrastructure is adequate. Even the teachers are well qualified. What is interesting is that we wanted a motivational engine to utilize their qualification, which we intend to achieve through this public outreach programme “Akhand Jyoti Mere School se Nikle Moti”,” said Sharma.
Other objectives of SAMARTH include assessing quality of class room teaching learning process followed in schools, to acknowledge best practice achievement in each school, to build an environment of accountability for an outcome oriented performance at all levels across scholastic, co-scholastic and stakeholder participation.
To achieve success a list of 4,283 public figures has already been prepared, for larger participation of political and administration leadership involving politicians and administration from each level.
