Anjali Kahali, a third-year student of Bachelors in Arts in Bengali at the Acharya Brojendra Nath Seal College(A B N Seal College) situated in Coochbehar district has snatched the second prize in the All India music competition organised by the All India Radio.
According to sources, Anjali Kahali who is resident of Arabindanagar in Alipurduar town was rewarded with a certificate and cash prize in the programme held in Lucknow on 23 February. She grabbed the runners up trophy in the ‘Najrul Giti’ event where more than one hundred candidates participated from all over India.

Good wishes and greetings overflowed for the college girl on her return from Lucknow to her home with the certificate and prizes, it is learnt. Local Councillor, Madhumita Kar welcomed the young singer yesterday while the municipality arranged a welcome programme for her today in the municipality office here in the town, it is learnt.
“It is our pride that a girl from our town has grabbed second position in a national level competition. We wish for her successful future. The girl posses excellence in vocal music,” said the local Councillor, Madhumita Kar. The girl hails from a family which has a musical background since long.
Her mother, Debi Kahali runs a music school in the town while her father, Anjan Kahali is a government employee associated with the Alipurduar municipality, it is learnt. “I could not believe it when I heard that my name declared in the radio with the other winners.
All the credit of my success goes to my mother who is my only music teacher,” said the award winner, Anjali Kahali. “I am feeling proud that I have spread the goodname of my town to a level of height and prestige,” added Ms Kahali.
