NHRC shoots off notice to TN govt over death of 2 labourers
The Commission observed that the contents of the media report, if true, indicate gross negligence on the part of the electricity department resulting in the death of two labourers.
As the Tamil Nadu’s ruling AIADMK geared up to celebrate late Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa’s 70th birth anniversary on Saturday, a party legislator gave the party’s top brass a shock, expressing his support to sidelined leader T.T.V. Dinakaran.
A. Prabhu, who represents Kallakurichi constituency, met Dinakaran on Friday and expressed his support to him.

Dinakaran later told reporters that barring six AIADMK leaders, all other party legislators and members support him.

Asked why he switched allegiance, Prabhu said that he was not able to do his duty as a lawmaker properly and that Dinakaran has the people’s support.
Responding to media queries on the matter, Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister D.Jayakumar said there is no set back for the government or the party.
