Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar is organising a 2-day Krishi Mela (Kharif) on 27 and 28 March at its premises on the theme of ‘Doubling the income of farmers by 2022′.
Varsity’s Vice-Chancellor KP Singh said that besides farmers, seeds, fertilizers, insecticides, agricultural machines and equipment manufacturing companies would participate in the fair. Farmers would be informed about machines, equipment required for carrying out various agricultural works. Besides this, they would be informed about the price of machines and their manufacturer companies.
He said, “Every year in the month of March, Haryana Agricultural University organises this Mela where about 50,000 farmers from all over the state and nearby states participate.”

Apart from Haryana Agricultural University, Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, various farming inputs and farm machinery manufacturing companies would exhibit their technology in agro-industrial exhibition to be put up during the mela, he added.
KP Singh further stated that the University would provide the farmers with superior quality of seeds recommended for Kharif crop, biofertilizers and books on farming. For this purpose, sale counters would be set up with the help of government seed agencies.
He said that the farmers would be taken to the research farms of the University and would be shown cultivation of Rabi crops by the scientists and technology used in it. Besides organisation of crop competition, an exhibition of hybrid cattle would also be held.
During the fair, questionnaire to solve the problem of farmers regarding farming, cattle keeping and Home Science would also be organised. The farmers would be given the facility of scientific examination of their soil, irrigation water and sick plants, he added.
