Aman Arora

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unit in Punjab has asked Chief Minister Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in the state to restrict playing of loudspeakers at functions during night beyond permissible limits during the examination days of students.

In a letter written to the CM by the co-president of AAP and MLA from Sunam, Aman Arora it has been requested that playing of loudspeakers at religious functions like ‘Jagrans’, Mandirs and Gurdwaras and social events like weddings etc at night time beyond permissible limits, be restricted at least during the examination days.

According to Arora, he received a phone call from a Class XII student who informed him that due to a wedding at the adjoining marriage hall where music was on full volume throughout the day, and the whole night, she could neither study nor sleep just because there was ‘Jagran’ at adjoining location. The loudspeaker was on full volume from 8 p.m. till 5 a.m. of the Gurdwara.

In his letter to Amarinder Singh, Arora said, “Sir, I being the father of school going kid and a representative of public, fully endorse the concern of this student and appreciate her for flagging the issue which have gone unnoticed all these years and might have effected numerous students by now.

Sir, I despite fully being aware that when it comes to religion and faith, our social and political structure is ultra fragile and over sensitive, and raising them may not be good any political person, but still I feel it to be my primary duty to raise this all important issue. I know that flagging the issue may not go down well with a few, but we’ll all have to understand that education is the only way to enlighten, strengthen and empower the mankind.”

“So keeping in mind these thoughts and to fulfil my commitment made to an aspiring student, I request your good self to do the needful to restrict playing of loudspeakers at religious functions and social events like weddings etc beyond permissible limits, during the examination days,” Arora said.
