An additional 70,000 LPG connections under PMUY will be distributed across 667 LPG panchayats in Odisha on a single day of Ujjwala Diwas on Friday.
Addressing a pre-event press conference here on Thursday, Pritish Bharat, Chief General Manager, Indian Oil, provided details of the programme in the presence of Prakash Sahoo, Chief Manager LPG Indian Oil, Dharmendra Behura, DGM LPG Sales HPCL and Sanjay Sharma, LPG sales, BPCL for Odisha and Jharkhand. Presently, there are Rs 23.5 lakh LPG connections in Odisha under PMUY given to BPL families.

Increase in LPG penetration is more than 37 per cent with 200 per cent growth in active customer strength in Odisha till date from June’2014, informed Mr Bharat.
“LPG Panchayats will sensitise the Ujjwala beneficiaries about safety and utility of LPG, health benefits of using clean fuels. New connections will be given, KYC forms will be collected for expanded categories of Ujjawala,” he said while listing out activities for on Friday.
