The arrest of Baste, a student coming from a well-todo family was under their radar since Nilay Ghosh was apprehended in connection with delivering drugs to students of some of the prominent city colleges and universities.
“Following interrogation of Nilay Ghosh who was arrested in connection with drug syndicate, we came to know the name of Kamalesh. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was in the business of delivering the contraband LSD from Nashik, Maharashtra to his agents through courier service. Tracking the number of courier, our officers cracked the case by arresting him”, an officer of NCB, pursuing the case said.
The officer also claimed that what had made the arrest more startling was the revelation of Dubai connection with the city’s drug syndicates.
“Kamalesh has admitted during interrogation that he would send consignment to his agents in the city through courier following instructions from Dubai. He was just carrying their instruction as sent to him and he in turn would deliver the consignment to his agents employed in the city through courier, who in turn would serve the drugs especially LSD on the campus among students,” an officer said.
