The encounter continued for several hours. Later, bodies of the three militants were found.
The encounter comes days after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had termed religious radicalisation as a serious security threat and said if not checked in time, it could lead to terrorism.
The home minister had made the remark while reviewing the security situation in the Northeast with chief secretaries and DGPs of the states of the region.
