Fire inside house: Retired DSP, 5 others of family die of asphyxiation in J&K
Six persons of a family, including two children, died of asphyxiation when a fire erupted in a house in Jammu's Kathua early Wednesday, officials said.
Three alleged drug peddlers were held along with some quantity of heroin and poppy straw in separate operations here, police said on Tuesday.
Amrik Singh, a resident of Kunjawani, was arrested after 15 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession in Gandhi Nagar area of the city, a police spokesman said.

Police also intercepted a motorcyclist, Sanjeev Kumar alias Munna, at Preet Nagar in Digiana and recovered three grams of heroin from him, the spokesman said.

In the third such operation, Sher Khan alias Bubble was arrested after one kg of poppy straw was recovered from him at Jinder Maiullu in R S Pura area.
He was on a motorcycle when the police intercepted him, the spokesman said.
