2 ex-ministers among 37 Cong workers expelled by HPCC

Two former ministers, two former MLAs and ex-president NSUI were amongst 37 party workers who were shown the door by Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) for anti-party activities in the recent Assembly elections.

The prominent leaders who were expelled includes state Congress vice president and ex-minister Rangila Ram Ray, Tek Chand Dogra, former MLAs Manjeet Dogra, Raghubir Singh and ex-NSUI president Karun Sharma.

State Congress spokesperson said that the action came following a tough stance of All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi, to expel these party workers for a period of six years. Their primary membership has also been cancelled.

The Congress party had post-Assembly elections had reviewed the party’s defeat in the elections and it was backed by recommendation of District and Block Congress Committees the party after green signal by Rahul Gandhi initiated the action against the party worker for sabotage.

During the recent visit to Shimla to review the party’s defeat, Rahul Gandhi had taken a strong exception against complaints of party workers, for having been involved in damaging the party in the election.

He had made it clear that strict action would be taken against those party workers who had worked against the official candidates who had contested the Assembly elections. Earlier in the day, Vikramaditiya Singh has resigned from the post of chief of Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress (HPYC) on completion of his tenure. National General Secretary of Indian Youth Congress Manish Thakur is now the officiating chief of HPYC.
