A fourteen- year-old boy succumbed to the injuries he received in his head, face and left hand he received in an attack. After the incident, the critically injured boy was rushed to the JPC Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the police said on Friday.

The police declared it a prima facie case of lynching suspecting that the victim was beaten up by another boy after the school hours. However, the facts in the case are yet to be ascertained.

A case of murder was registered in the matter, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East Delhi Joy Tirkey said. “Blood spots were found at several places on the road. He was taken to JPC Hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” the police official added.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon at around 2.15 pm and was reported to the police through information from the hospital at 4.04 pm.

The spot where the incident took place was Sant Ravidas Gali in North East Delhi’s Brahmpuri area.

The deceased was a student of class 8 at a private school and a resident of Brahmpuri.

A police team is investigating the incident while all the information regarding the matter is being collected and CCTV footage from the area is also being scanned, the police said, adding that the probe was underway.
