Every district in Haryana would soon get 100 traffic home guards exclusively for management of traffic in the state.
This will further help in improving road and traffic safety in the state, the Director General of Police (DGP), BS Sandhu said on Thursday while speaking after releasing a book on road safety entitled ‘Yatayaat Prahari’ compiled by Haryana Traffic Police at Police Headquarters in Panchkula.

He said that state government had permitted to engage about 2,100 home guards for ensuring efficient traffic management in the state. All these would join their duties before Independence Day. This move will boost the traffic cop’s strength across the state.

Describing Road Safety as the backbone of an efficient and safe traffic management system, Sandhu said that Haryana Police is continuously trying to improve the traffic situation by reducing the incidents of road accidents in the state.
The government had recently sanctioned Rs Nine Crore under the Road Safety Fund for procurement of ultra-modern equipments and vehicles for traffic police. Road safety would be improved further in the days to come.
The DGP also congratulated the Traffic Police working under the guidance of DIG Traffic, Rakesh Kumar Arya for having taken this initiative and added that this step would definitely help in reducing traffic violations and spreading road safety awareness among people.
