The base variant of the Glanza (G MT Smart Hybrid) undercuts its corresponding Baleno variant by Rs 65,000. All other corresponding variants of the two are priced identically.
While the Glanza is based on the Baleno and the two hatchbacks are quite similar, Toyota has made a few changes to differentiate the two. For starters, the front grille has been reworked and features more chrome than the one on the Baleno. The only other change on the outside is the different badging.
The Glanza borrows both the petrol engines that are offered with the Baleno. The base G variant of the Glanza is available with the 1.2-litre petrol engine with the mild-hybrid tech, in its manual avatar. This engine makes 90PS/113Nm and was recently introduced on the Baleno. All other variants of the Glanza are available with the 1.2-litre 83PS/113Nm engine, that is offered in multiple Maruti cars. Both the G and V variants of the Glanza can be had with a CVT gearbox, albeit not with the newer 1.2-litre engine that has mild-hybrid tech. The Glanza is not available with a diesel engine, unlike the Baleno.
On the features front, the Glanza is specced like the Baleno (Zeta variant of Baleno for G variant of Glanza and Alpha variant of Baleno for V variant of Glanza). The infotainment system on the Glanza has been dubbed Smart Playcast but it is the same unit present in the Baleno. Toyota is offering it on all variants of the Glanza. On the safety front, the Glanza will come with dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard on all variants.
Toyota has bettered the warranty package compared to Maruti (2years/40,000km). The Glanza will come with a 3 years/1,00,000km warranty from the factory and RSA (road side assistance) is free for the same period. While the Glanza is manufactured at Maruti’s factory on the same assembly line as the Baleno, the service and spares will be taken care of by Toyota.
