Delhi Metro to introduce urban freight (cargo) services on its network

Commuters can now book QR-based metro tickets from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) platform as both entities have signed MoUs for the same on Monday.
The IRCTC said this innovative initiative is set to benefit passengers of both IRCTC and DMRC by streamlining the travel experience and reducing the time spent in queues at stations.

As of now, the tickets are available at the metro stations where the passengers queue up to get the ticket. Earlier, Paytm also launched QR-based tickets for Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line.

For the first quarter of the Financial Year 2024, IRCTC’s revenue from the internet ticketing business declined 4 percent to ₹290 crore.
The IRCTC registered a profit at ₹232.22 crore with a decline of 5 per cent on a year-on-year(YoY) basis for the same quarter.
In order to facilitate the passengers to attend the Independence Day ceremony on August 15, the Delhi Metro train services on all Lines will start from 05:00 AM from all terminal stations, DMRC has informed.
The Metro trains will run as per the normal timetable throughout the day after 06:00 hrs. Prior to this, the trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the corridors.

This caused a cascading effect on the entire Red Line resulting in delays in overall passenger trips from one end to another end during this period today.
The Delhi Metro train services would commence at 2.30 pm from terminal stations on all lines on Friday on account of Holi.
