Market declines due to foreign investor selling, weak quarter earnings
At the close, the Sensex fell by 1.2 per cent or 942 points to 78782.24, while the Nifty dropped 1.27 per cent or 309 points to 23995.35.
During the trading session, S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 309 points to hit 39,361.06.
After slow early trade, Sensex continued trading in the green on Friday afternoon and ended at 246.32 points or 0.63 per cent higher at 39,298.38. Similarly, Nifty settled at 11,661.75, up 75.40 points or 0.65 per cent from its previous close.

Yes Bank, Coal India, Maruti Suzuki were among the top gainers, while Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, and Bharti Airtel were the top drags.

The most active players were -HDFC AMC (6.11%); Yes Bank (8.44%), Indiabulls Hsg (17.42%), Reliance (1.37%), IRCTC (7.57%).
Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) rose as much as 29.29 per cent to Rs. 57.60 on the BSE.
