85 breached
The Indian rupee has breached the significant psychological barrier of 85 against the US dollar, marking an all-time low amid a confluence of domestic and global pressures.
The Reserve Bank of India today fixed the reference rate of the rupee at 64.0692 against the US dollar and 76.1398 for the euro.
The corresponding rates were 63.9818 and 76.6630, as on yesterday.

According to an RBI statement, the exchange rates for the pound and the yen against the rupee were 84.6867 and 58.02 per 100 yens, respectively, based on reference rates for the dollar and cross-currency quotes at noon.

The SDR-rupee figure will be based on this rate, the statement added.
