GST collections see 8.9 pc YoY growth at Rs 1.87 lakh crore in October
It is the eighth consecutive month when GST collections stayed above the Rs 1.7 lakh crore mark.
As Union Budget 2018 is being presented in Parliament on Thursday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said The emoluments of the President, Vice President and state Governors will be enhanced to Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh respectively.
Earlier on Thursday, Arun Jaitley announced a capital expenditure of Rs 1.48 lakh crore for the Indian Railways in his Budget 2018 speech in Parliament.

Most of this money will be spent on capacity expansion since it is a priority for the national transporter, Jaitley said while presenting the Union Budget, while adding that over Rs 1.48 lakh crore to be allocated for railways in next fiscal.
Jaitley also said the economy was on course to achieve 8 per cent growth, which will be at 7.2 to 7.5 per cent in the second half of the fiscal.
“Indian economy has performed very well since our government came to power,” the Finance Minister said.
