Sonowal unveils initiative to enhance efficiency of major ports

Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday launched a series of major initiatives of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) aimed at modernising India’s maritime infrastructure, strengthening its global trade presence, and promoting sustainability.

States’ outstanding dues towards discoms fall to Rs 1,13,269 cr

Official sources said that the dues of states towards generation and transmission companies have come down with timely payment of just four EMIs. For payment of EMI of Rs 24,680 crore, five states have taken loans of Rs 16,812 crore from PFC and REC and eight states have opted to make their own arrangement, sources said.

India-Australia trade deal expected to boost gems, jewellery sector; annual volume seen at USD 2 bn

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the industry body, expects the trade agreement to boost bilateral gem and jewellery trade from USD 1.3 billion at present to USD 2 billion annually. Key commodities exported to Australia are plain gold jewellery, studded jewellery, and cut and polished diamonds. The main commodities imported from Australia are precious metals -- gold and silver bars.

Total outstanding dues of States reduced by Rs 24,680 crore: Ministry of Power

In a statement, the ministry said the total outstanding dues of States which were at Rs 137,949 crore as on June 3, 2022, have been reduced by Rs 24,680 crore to Rs 113,269 crore with the timely payment of just four (4) EMIs. "For payment of EMI of Rs 24,680 crore, five States have taken a loan of Rs 16,812 crore from PFC and REC and eight States have opted to make their own arrangement," the ministry said in the statement.
