Toyota launches Glanza in India at Rs 7.22 Lakh
The Glanza will only be available with a petrol engine, unlike the Baleno which also gets a diesel.
The segment, on the whole, has seen a decline of 5 per cent compared to May 2019
Toyota entered the premium hatchback segment last month with the Glanza. While it is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Glanza does offer the mild-hybrid variant at a lower price. Let’s see how it has affected sales across the premium hatchback and crossover segments in June.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Despite seeing an almost 10 per cent drop in it MoM growth, the Baleno still commands almost 50 per cent of the market share. The Maruti hatchback still comfortably sits at the top of the table.

Hyundai Elite i20: The Elite i20 saw its MoM demand go up by more than 3 per cent, registering a sale of more than 9000 units in June 2019. The Elite i20 commands more than 32 per cent of the market share.
Toyota Glanza: Toyota’s sold almost 2000 units of the Glanza in June 2019. The new entry in the segment commands almost 7 per cent of the market share.
Volkswagen Polo: The Polo’s monthly sales continues to hover around the 1500 units mark and the German hatchback commands more than 5 per cent of the market share.
Honda WR-V: Honda’s WR-V saw its MoM growth go down by more than 16 per cent. Honda sold more than 1200 units of the crossover in June. It commands a market share of more than 4 per cent.
Honda Jazz: The Jazz managed to register a MoM growth of less than 1 per cent compared to May. Overall, the Jazz commands a market share of over 2 per cent.
Total: On a whole the segment saw a decline of more than 5 per cent, compared to May 2019.
