Discussing the Finance Bill, 2017, in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Bill would support tax collection and after the implementation, Aadhaar card would be mandatory for filing income tax returns.
"Many people have been found with multiple PAN cards and that's why the government felt the need to introduce the Aadhaar system" Jaitley said, adding, " Today 98 per cent citizens have Aadhaar.

Meanwhile, clearing the doubts on tax evasion, Jaitley said, "They can either give the Aadhaar number or mention that they have applied for Aadhaar".
