Sitharaman seeks enhanced support from international financial institutions for SDGs
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman sought enhanced support from international financial institutions to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Presenting the Budget in Parliament, the Minister said: “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) aims to achieve the objective of ‘Housing for All’ by 2022.”
Union Finance MInister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that the government aims to achieve its objective of providing a house to everyone by 2022.
Presenting the Budget in Parliament, the Minister said: “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) aims to achieve the objective of ‘Housing for All’ by 2022.”
She said a total of 1.54 crore rural homes had been built in the last five years.

“In the second phase of PMAY-G, during 2019-20 to 2021-22, 1.95 crore houses are proposed to be provided to the eligible beneficiaries,” she said, adding that these houses were also being provided with amenities like toilet, electricity and LPG connection.
She said that with the use of technology, DBT platform and technology inputs, average number of days for completion of houses had reduced from 314 days in 2015-16 to 114 days in 2017-18.
