The third-party sellers on Amazon failed in quality checks as they have been selling long-expired food items like Hostess brownies and Teavana goods, which were discontinued in 2017, media reports said.

Several reports related to counterfeit products and expired items being sold are revolving around. Around 40 per cent of sellers had more than five complaints of expired food, finding data released by firm 3PM stated.

On Amazon, multiple sellers sell one product. Therefore, it creates confusion on who is selling the item from the recent batch. Following such complaints, Amazon has taken down a few vendors, CNBC reported.

As per the CNBC reports, vendors have to honor the company’s law and policies, including a guarantee that any item has a shelf life of at least 90 days.
