Great Games
The term “Great Games” (inspired by the French term Le grand jeu suggesting risk, chance and deception) was coined in the 19th century to frame the rivalry between the competing British and Russian Empires over dominating Asia.
“Language exerts hidden power, like the moon on the tides,” American writer once said. Celebrating the beauty of a language, Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, hosted the 15th Kusum Verma Memorial National Inter-School English Festival on Tuesday.
The school organised the event, in collaboration with the Old Springdalian Association (OSA), in memory of former Head of the English Department Late Kusum Verma.

“The Human Spirit is a social construct that defines our personality and our philosophy of life,” Principal Jyoti Bose said in her introductory address.

The creative fiesta paid a tribute to the indomitable spirit of humans and their struggles through rendition of poems focussed on the theme ‘The Human Spirit-An Answer?’.
The students presented their creative writings on the topic ‘Power of Knowledge’ to pave the road to wisdom and enlightenment. The young brains also envisioned a future full of hopes for humanity through their enactment on the theme ‘The world needs….’.
Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, won the first position in the category of self-composed poems. Springdales School, Pusa Road, received the first prize in category B. Mother’s International School was adjudged the winner of the creative writing contest, while Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, won the first prize in enact an act competition. The Overall Trophy was given to Indraprastha International School, Dwarka.
