The Centre has amended the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2010, introducing provisions for regular examinations and holding back students in specific cases in Class 5 and Class 8 if they fail.
Educationists urge parents to give freedom to their children to select subjects and spend more time with them.
The examinations will be completed within a fortnight and will end on March 9.
The report also underscored the need for classroom resources to be more user-friendly to promote their usage among children.
The much-anticipated admit cards for the December 2023 UGC NET exam are expected in the first week of December.
"Also, if a candidate has offered more than 5 subjects, the decision to determine the best 5 subjects may be taken by the admitting institution or employer," the notice said.
