The director said that policy decision for relaxation to girl students in cutoff marks for admission into the IIM -S is another reason behind increasing number of girls here.
IIM Sambalpur has witnessed a rise in number of girl students this year in comparison to the previous years.
“Out of the total 95 students admitted till today, as many as 50 are girls. This is nothing but an encouraging number and a credit for this intuition,” said Mahadeo Jaiswal , the director of IIM-S during the commencement of the fifth batch of MBA yesterday.
“Good placement records apart, proper communication and the growing reputation of the institution are added attractions for girl students for this institution,” Jaiswal added.

The director further said that policy decision for relaxation to girl students in cutoff marks for admission into the IIM -S is another reason behind increasing number of girls here.
“While the cut-off mark for the male students for admission into IIM-S is 95%, it is 90% for girl students,” he said. The students of the 5th batch of IIM-S were addressed by. President of Refinery Business, Reliance Industries Limited P Raghavendran, Vicechancellor of Sambalpur University Deepak Behera and Director of IIM-S Mahadeo Jaiswal. IIM-S also launched the PhD programme from this academic session where four students have taken admission. The premier BSchool, which started operations in 2015, is currently functioning from the campus of Sambalpur University in Burla. The permanent campus of the institution will be set up at Basantpur on the outskirts of Sambalpur
Reportedly, 200 acres of land has been handed over for the permanent campus. An amount of Rs 400 crore has also been sanctioned for its construction.
