UGC extends last date for submission of feedback on new regulations
The University Grants Commission (UGC), on Thursday, extended the last date for the submission of feedback on the draft UGC Regulations 2025 to February 28.
The step has been taken following an advice given to this effect to the Ministry of Education by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a leading institution for Journalism and Mass Communication, has been declared a deemed to be university under the distinct category by the government.
The step has been taken following an advice given to this effect to the Ministry of Education by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

“The declaration extends to IIMC New Delhi and its five regional campuses located in Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir), Amravati (Maharashtra), Aizawl (Mizoram), Kottayam (Kerala), and Dhenkanal (Odisha),” an official press note said.

With this new status, the IIMC is now authorised to offer degrees, including doctoral degrees.
