Leadership in Energy Environmental Design is a rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and encourage market transformation towards sustainable design.
Amity University, Kolkata became the first leed gold certified campus in India. With the objective to reach out to the larger community to create awareness and skilled leed professionals, USGBC launched leed lab in esteemed institutions.
As a part of the initiative, the university organised an introductory seminar on 11October. The occasion was graced by the presence of the university vice chancellor Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, senior director Ankita Chakravarty Bhattacharyya along with P Gopalkrishnan, managing director, GBCI (APAC &ME); Priyanka Kochhar, regional manager and Ashish Jain, GBCI and director, AEON Integrated Building Design.

Gopalkrishnan acquainted the students with urgent need to get engaged with the environmental cause and also made students aware of the opportunities awaiting leed professionals in the national and international market. Jain shared his first-hand experience of designing and construction of the university to acquire leed gold certification.
