Coal India marks 50th Foundation Day
The Coal India Limited (CIL) on Monday marked its 50th Foundation Day at its headquarters in Kolkata.
The 82nd Annual Convention and National Seminar of Indian Society of Soil Science was organised by Indian Society of Soil Science, Kolkata Chapter in collaboration with Amity University, Kolkata on 11December. More than 400 soil scientists from India participated in the convention.
Ashish Banerjee, agricultural minister, government of West Bengal, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, vice chancellor, Amity University and T. Mahapatra, secretary, Dare and DG, ICAR were the guests of honour. Suresh K. Chaudhari, ADG and President ISSS presided over the programme.
Banerjee in his inaugural address narrated the major agricultural strategies of the state while Mohapatra inspired all the soil scientists of the country to emphasise on the fertility aspects of soil science.

Chattopadhyay mentioned introducing agriculture as a course in the curriculum of the university in future, following the vision of the founder president Ashok K. Chauhan.
A special symposium on “Soil and water management innovations towards doubling the farmers income” and a national seminar on “Development in soil science-2017” was also organised. The inaugural session released five important publications.
