After drizzles for a few days last week, the city is tipped to get rainfall and fog again for a few days. The weather department has issued a forecast of rainfall in Kolkata and various districts of South Bengal for the next five days. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the rainfall in districts is expected to be triggered by formation of wind discontinuity over the neighbouring state of Jharkhand and adjoining areas.
The phenomenon clubbed with moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal is predicted to bring rainfall in various parts of West Bengal from 30 January to 2 February. As per the forecast, districts like East Burdwan, Nadia, North 24-Parganas, South 24-Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad and Birbhum over the next few days. Likewise, Kolkata is also anticipated to get light rainfall from 31 January to 2 February along with foggy weather.
According to the weather department officials, the city is likely to have shallow to moderate fog at one or two places for the next two days. Weather scientists are hoping the upcoming weather conditions to prevail over South Bengal till 3 February. Like South Bengal, districts of North Bengal including Darjeeling , Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong are also tipped to get light rainfall on 1 and 2 February.
According to the weather official, the upcoming weather bringing rainfall could cause damage to horticulture and standing crops and vegetables in the field.
