KMC councillor’s son arrested for reckless driving allegedly injuring a 70 year-old woman
Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) councillor Mitali Bandyopadhyay’s younger son Suddhaswatta Bandyopadhyay was arrested on charge of rash driving.
Supply of filtered water from Garden Reach Water Works and the booster pumping stations at Chetla, Harish Park, Kalighat, Ranikuthi, Layelka, Golf Green, Garfa and Gandhi Maidan
Citizens living in South Kolkata and few other boroughs of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation are likely to face water woes on 21 January.
The civic body is to carry out repairing works of higher diameter water supply transmission pipeline and maintenance work at Garden Reach Water Works (GRWW) and different BPS following which, supply of filtered water from KMC is to remain unavailable after 10 am and in the afternoon hours on 21 January, informed the civic body today.
According to the water supply department of the KMC, a failure of a 1,400 mm higher diameter dedicated transmission main has occurred on SP Mukherjee Road near the junction of Bowali Mondal Road. This failure, according to KMC, needs to be repaired immediately. Also, some maintenance work is also to be carried out at GRWW and different BPS. For carrying out the work, water supply of CC grid under GRWW command zone cannot be continued after morning pressure hours.

Supply of filtered water from Garden Reach Water Works and the booster pumping stations at Chetla, Harish Park, Kalighat, Ranikuthi, Layelka, Golf Green, Garfa and Gandhi Maidan, including different head works and capsule booster pumping stations will not be available on that day after 10 am.
Considering the fact, different areas of South Kolkata including those in Borough 8 and some parts in Borough-9, 10, 11, 12 and 15 are expected to face disruption in water supply. However, as informed by the civic body, normal water supply is to be resumed from the morning hours of 22 January
