Overwhelmed at the turnout, he said that the clothes, distributed today, are not a donation but a Puja gift from him. “If I don’t meet the people of Diamond Harbour, my Durga Puja festivities remain incomplete.
I promise that next year onwards, our volunteers will deliver the Puja gifts to you at your doorstep,” said Abishek Taking a dig at Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma, who had camped at Diamond Harbour in the last LS election, Abhishek said, “Yet, I won by 71,000 votes in 2014. During the 2019 polls, I received 7,94,000 votes, which was the highest across the state. If we talk about the victory margin, I came second polling 3,21,000 more votes than the other candidate. This time in the LS polls it will cross 4 lakh, with the blessings of the people.”
He listed the developmental work done in the constituency. “We have presented an annual report card Nishobdo Biplob every year showcasing the work done for the people in this constituency.

No other MP from the country shares his or her report card in such detail every year. Others engage in such exercise once every 5 years,” he said.
He then talked about the police atrocities at Krishi Bhawan in Delhi for the MGNREGA dues.
“More than 21.75 lakh families in Bengal have MGN- REGA workers who haven’t been paid their wages for two years despite working under the scheme only because the Narendra Modi government has blocked their funds I urge people to give us six months’ time. We will get your rightful due from the Cen- tre,” he added.
