Trinamul Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee has asked people to attend the meeting and said those who have deprived Bengal will not be spared.
Trinamul Congress leaders alleged that the Centre had not cleared dues worth Rs 6,913 crore of 50 lakh workers who had worked under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme. The state government has cleared dues of the workers and the money has been directly credited to their bank accounts.
Under Awyas Yojana, the Centre has not cleared dues worth Rs 8,140 crore to set up 11.36 lakh homes for the rural poor. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had said the state government will wait for one month and if the Centre fails to clear the dues within the stipulated time, houses will be constructed in batches.
Trinamul Congress left no stone unturned to bring party supporters to join the Brigade Parade Ground rally on 10 March. Meetings have been held across the state to make the meeting a grand success.
Earlier, Miss Banerjee took part in a dharna pressing the demand. She, along with the MPs met the Prime Minister and sought his intervention. But nothing happened. Party MPs and the aggrieved job card holders tried to meet the minister of state for rural development. However, she did not meet the delegation.
The video clipping shows how the MPs were forcibly removed from the office of the minister of state.
Political experts said the deprivation by the Centre would be a major issue in 2024 Lok Sabha election.
