Tea industry in Bengal is suffering as the Centre and the state both are swindling tea garden labourers in the name of revival of the tea processing units, former Leader of the Left Front in West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Sujan Chakraborty said.
He said that the tea industry is gasping but heavyweight Trinamul Congress’ leaders are taking dadan (loan) to revive them but ultimately those are collapsing. “Look for the reason behind the closing of the tea gardens. There was dadan taken by big-shot TMC leaders. As a result tea industry falls sick and wage earners are suffering,” he said. Mr Chakraborty also said that the Centre is similarly giving false promises to tea gardens wages earners but failed to fulfill them.

“Central ministers round the year are visiting the tea gardens considering the vote banks and promising Union government’s help. But through the five years not a single project was taken to revive the infrastructure of the tea industries. Not a single garden was acquired by the Centre. The BJP government is continuing their lies and false promises as elections are coming. But people have detected their fraudulent politics to cheat tea gardens’ wage earners,” he said.

Mr Chakraborty said only the Left Front could be a real alternative force, which could rescue the state from destruction. “TMC-led government and party leaders are looting everything including the funds of Pardhan Mantri Awas Yojana, working days under MNREGA, even funds of cattles and chicken farming for rural populace. However poor people are uniting themselves in rural areas to give reply against the mountain-like corruption,” he said
