A complaint was lodged at Bowbazar police following the theft of a mobile phone from the room of a junior trainee on the third floor of the hostel building of Calcutta Medical College and Hospital.

Madhumita Mahato, a third-year postgraduate trainee at Medical College and Hospital, found a youth standing at the door of her room after she came out of the washroom on Friday afternoon. When she asked him the reason for his being there, the youth allegedly fled with her cellphone and locked her inside the room.

Although she screamed for help, she remained locked in her room since most of her hostel mates were outside. Later, a few of her roommates came and opened the doors. Later, a complaint was lodged at the police station but no arrest has been made so far.
