Siliguri school gets national honour
This programme, scheduled on 28-30 October, aims to cultivate a spirit of community, hygiene, and social responsibility.
To mark the Mother’s Day, Sunday Haat organised several programmes here today and announced ‘Himalayan Strawberry Festival’, the first of its kind of agro-tourism festival, at Chimney Village under Kurseong Sub Division in Darjeeling district on 18 May.
The Sunday Haat, a Siliguri based voluntary organisation that promotes organic produce, traditional arts and crafts of North Bengal and the North-East region, celebrated Mother’s Day today by dedicating the celebration to Mother Nature and the Soil.
To mark the Mother’s Day, Sunday Haat organised several programmes here today and announced ‘Himalayan Strawberry Festival’, the first of its kind of agro-tourism festival, at Chimney Village under Kurseong Sub Division in Darjeeling district on 18 May. A group of farmers especially from Kurseong and Sonada in Darjeeling associated with the Sunday Haat, will coordinate the Strawberry Festival. On this occasion of International Museum Day on 18 May, the heritage of the area like forest museum and the chimney remains will be highlighted along with agroproduce, handicrafts and handlooms in the festival.
Besides, there will be Strawberry recipe competition, cultural programme and fashion show. The local people will participate in several activities related to AgroTourism. Today’s Mother’s Day was dedicated to Reba Bose in the presence of guests from different fields, including from the Confederation of Indian Industry and from Nepal. The event began with cake cutting by host Reba Bose, Chief Guest Arjun Karki from Green Generation Jhapa, Nepal and Special Guest Sanjit Saha from CII, Siliguri, India.
