After having the state's first blue road, East Burdwan now has a green road, a pioneering effort in Bengal, which is now set to be opened for public use.

A student appeared at the Madhyamik examination despite being beaten by a snake in Bhatar in East Burdwan. Arjun Majhi of Balsidanga locality in Bhatar PS area of East Burdwan was beaten by a snake in his left leg in the midnight hours while he was asleep at his residence.
He woke up immediately and the family members and his neighbours found it to be a krait. He was immediately shifted to the Bhatar State General Hospital and he was administered with anti-venom injection. Arjun has appeared in this year’s Madhyamik from local Bhatar Boy’s School here.
Even though he’s sick and remaining under medical supervision, Arjun expressed his desire to sit for today’s paper. After the matter was informed to the sub-divisional authorities of the invigilators by his school, Arjun was allowed to write his papers from the hospital bed today. Arjun said after the exams, “I’m still under medical treatment.

I didn’t want to skip my papers as I was confident that my physicians were taking care of me.” Raktima Ghosal, another Madhyamik examinee, had fallen sick and was shifted to the Mankar Rural Hospital yesterday afternoon after she was diagnosed with acute diarrhea. She’s a candidate from local Mankar Girl’s High School. Dr Ujjawal Chowdhury, attending physician at the hospital said, “We’d agreed to allow the girl’s examination at the hospital after we could arrange a separation accommodation for her today.”
