Girl calls home, found dead after minutes in Kalna
They won't let me live, screamed a Class XII girl over the phone to her mother and within minutes she was found dead, bearing multiple injuries alongside a railway track in Kalna town last night.
Among the deceased are Bidyut Behera, Tithi Behera, their 2 years old son Dihan, Ram Prasad Das and Nupur Das both husband and wife and Srija Das, a college student.
Six passengers travelling in a toto were run over by a speeding dumper today morning at Kangsari in Gurap.
All the six passengers inside the toto were crushed to death on the spot. The driver of the ill-fated toto in a critical state was admitted at Burdwan medical college hospital but he succumbed to his injuries a little later.

Local sources said the toto was carrying six passengers from Bhastra to Gurap station. While crossing the four-point road junction, on road 23, an empty dumper approaching from the opposite side at a high speed lost control and smashed into the toto. The driver of the toto was in a critical condition. They rushed all the victims to Burdwan medical college hospital, the attending doctor declared six of the passengers brought-dead.

The Gurap police said the speeding dumper failed to check its speed at the road speed-breaker and smashed into the passing toto, full of passengers.
The police said more speed-breakers will be put up and traffic controlling barricades will be put up to avoid such mishaps.
The dumper was seized and the driver of the dumper was arrested, said police.
