Trinamul Congress leader from Nanoor, Kajal Sheikh, has threatened to leave the district core committee of the party in Birbhum alleging that Anubrata Mondal is still controlling the party over phone giving instructions. His public outburst has created a stir.
Chief Minister, Miss Mamata Banerjee had formed a nine member core committee to run the district party in absence of Anubrata Mondal, the jailed district party president, ahead of the upcoming crucial panchayat elections.

She had said that she will look after Birbhum district and will visit every six months. Municipal affairs and urban development minister and Birbhum district party observer, Firhad Hakim was to assist her. MSME minister Chandranath Singha, deputy speaker, Ashish Banerjee, the two MPs of Birbhum, Bikash Roy Choudhury etc are other members of the core committee.
The inclusion of Kajal Shiekh was significant as he is in the camp opposed to Anubrata Mondal. In fact, there were allegations that Mr Sheikh had played a key role in the defeat of Gadadhar Hazra, who was close to Anubrata Mondal in the 2016 Assembly polls.
Since the arrest of Mr Mondal, Mr Sheikh and his supporters have become active.
Mr Sheikh left the district committee meeting in Bolpur yesterday alleging that his voice is not being heard. Today he alleged that Mr Mondal is giving instructions over phone to Bikash Roy Choudhury on how to run the party.
Mamata Banerjee had urged the party leadership to stop factional feuds in Birbhum and work together, but recent incidents proves that factional feuds continue in the district.
Bikash Roy Choudhury, said that they will discuss the issue within the party and it will be resolved
