The present sitting MP of Hooghly lok sabha Locket Chatterjee is contesting the Hooghly Lok Sabha seat for the second time as a BJP candidate. However the alleged existing discord among the BJP leaders and party workers within the Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency will mean some rough sailing for Locket Chatterjee to put up a fight against the TMC candidate for Hooghly Lok Sabha seat, Rachana Banerjee.

A lot of discontent and resentment exists among the people of Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency against Locket Chatterjee for not being at their side in their time of need. The BJP party workers are quite perturbed over the discontent of the people of the constituency.

Moreover the party workers themselves have flagged the alleged indifferent attitude of Locket Chatterjee towards them. Very recently posters appeared against Locket Chatterjee, purportedly put up by BJP mandal presidents who do not favour Locket Chatterjee as the BJP Hooghly LS candidate for the second time.

With the declaration of Locket Chatterjee’s name for the second time as the party’s candidate, the BJP’s Hooghly unit appears divided in two factions Locket Chatterjee, however, while speaking to media persons on the issue completely denied any division within the Hooghly BJP unit. She said all these stories are cooked up by the Trinamul Congress to discourage the BJP grassroot workers and to defame her and the party.

The sitting Hooghly MP alleged that all the anti-Locket Chatterjee and anti-BJP posters were put up by TMC. However, during her election campaign, it is well marked that many party workers who previously accompanied the Hooghly MP are not seen anywhere nearby.

Today also, posters appeared at 19 no ward of Bansberia Municipality against BJP district president Tushar Mazumdar, BJP district general secretary Suresh Sahu and BJP state general secretary Mr Dipanjan Guha, who are denounce as hidden agents of the Trinamul Congress. The BJP leadership alleges that the posters are put up by the TMC .

Political observers are of the opinion that even though locket Chatterjee is a much more experienced and mature politician than TMC candidate Rachna Banerjee, the prevaling discontent among the people against Locket Chatterjee and the divisions within the local BJP will give a lot of advantage to the TMC candidate for Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency
