North Bengal University (NBU) published the results of the BA/BSC/BCom/ Part III (Honors and General) examinations here this afternoon. A total of 8,649 students had appeared for the examination in the Honours course (7,296 B.A, 787 BSc. and 566 BCom). A total of 5,734 candidates (84.24 per cent) cleared the BA exams, 579 (87.86 per cent) cleared the BSc, and 446 (80.65 per cent) passed the BCom exams.

A total of 19,482 students (18,442 in BA, 292 in BSc and 747 BCom) had appeared for the examinations in the general course. In total 9,104 (56.12 per cent) BA students passed the exams, 174 cleared the BSc exams, and 446 BCom candidates cleared the same.

“If we compare the results of the Honours course this year with that of the previous year, we find there is an increase in the percentage of successful candidates for BA and BSc (BA hike 4.03 per cent and BSc hike 6.37per cent). On the other hand, we have witnessed a minimal decrease in the percentage of successful candidates for BCom (2.04pc). If we compare the results of the General Course this year with the previous year, we find there is increase in the percentage of successful candidates only in the BA (hike 8.31pc) and decrease in BSc (1.26pc) and BCom (9.69pc),” said Dr Subiresh Bhattacharyya, the Vice-Chancellor of the North Bengal University

In honours, the women pass percentage in BA is 64.63pc, in BSc it is 51.12pc, and in BCom, it is 48.65pc. Among male candidates, the pass percentage in BA is 35.37 pc, B.Sc 48.88 pc and B.Com 51.35 pc. The number of female candidates obtaining First Class is 127 in BA, 119 in BSc and 34 in B.Com. The number of male candidates securing First Class is 63 in BA, 102 in BSc, and 38 in BCom. “In this connection, we are glad to find that the results of the girls are praiseworthy, and they have outperformed the boys in some sections. Candidates will be able to download the mark sheets from our official site,” Mr Bhattacharyya added.

Notably, BA, BSc and BCom exams had been delayed for around 70 days due to the elections in May. For downloading the results online, students will have to log in to ‘nbuexams.net or nbuexams.com from 7 p.m. for colleges and 8 p.m. onwards for students.
