Rubbishing reports of his political differences with Trinamul chairperson Mamata Banerjee, the national general secretary of the ruling party in West Bengal on Thursday expressed his loyalty to her.

While addressing the Trinamul Congress’ organisational meeting, packed with party leaders and workers across the state at Netaji Indoor Stadium (NIS) this afternoon, Mr Banerjee said: “My leader is Mamata Banerjee.”

Rejecting any notion that he might cross over to the rival saffron camp, he said, “Those who are saying that I am joining BJP are spreading canards. Even with a severed head, I will say Mamata Banerjee zindabad. Whatever is coming out in the news these days are blatant lies. I know the people who are spreading such fake news with vested interests ahead of next year’s Assembly polls.”

On the Opposition’s attacks on the party and its leaders, Abhishek said: “The 2024 Lok Sabha election was a rude awakening for the BJP, a party that has spared no effort in maligning Bengal. They have all the money and muscle power but what they lack is the love of the ‘Gonodebota’ and the support of grassroots workers.”

He urged party leaders and workers to focus on public service instead of internal conflicts.

He said, “Forget about your own differences next year and concentrate on working for the people. There is no point in engaging in conspiracies. Those indulging in WhatsApp group politics should know that such efforts will be futile. Those conspiring will be impacted themselves. With our sights firmly set on 2026, I call upon every leader, every karyakarta to be sleepless custodians. We must ensure that Ma, Mati, Manush Sarkar, under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, returns for a historic fourth term with an even stronger mandate.”

He asserted that he would continue to expose traitors within the party, as he had done during previous elections.

“In the past, I had identified those who betrayed the party, including Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikari.

I took the responsibility of exposing them. In the coming days, I will continue to identify such people,” he said.

“The fight to secure Bengal’s future has begun. We must ensure the victory of the Trinamul Congress and make Mamata Banerjee the chief minister for the fourth consecutive time. Our goal is to win a two-thirds majority in the 2026 Assembly election,” he said.
