A day before the Election Commission of India (ECI) is all set to announce the schedule of Lok Sabha elections, MPs Dibyendu Adhikari and Arjun Singh joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. “It is a good day for me as I am joining the BJP family today.

What happened in Sandeshkhali, especially against women, is not an issue of Bengal alone but that of the entire country. BJP reached the victims first. People had a lot of expectations with the Bengal CM as she too is a woman. In Bengal, women don’t get the respect that they should get,” said Dibyendu Adhikari said after the joining. Earlier Arjun Singh, who had jumped from TMC to BJP and back, had announced his move to join the BJP after being denied a poll ticket from Barrackpore.

“I am joining the BJP. I am going to Delhi today. I am a man of the people and I will fight from Barrackpore,” Singh said before leaving for Delhi.
