Mithun Chakraborty discharged from hospital

Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty will kick off campaigns for the party from 1 March for the forthcoming general elections.

The 73-year-old actor won’t contest elections as a candidate this time but is eager to campaign for the saffron party in West Bengal and other states.

He was discharged from the hospital on Monday afternoon after undergoing treatment for a couple of days since Saturday. He was admitted to a premier private hospital along EM Bypass after he suffered a mild cerebral attack on Saturday. He suddenly fell ill in the shooting floor of a movie Shastri produced by Trinamul Congress MLA and actor Soham Chakraborty around 10am on Saturday and was rushed to a private hospital.

The actor was admitted to the CCU soon after he was brought to the hospital. He underwent several investigations, including an MRI. A special team of doctors attended to the ailing actor.

“I am okay now and my blood sugar levels shot up suddenly because of overeating. I am a voracious eater like a demon. I eat voraciously in Kolkata whatever I don’t get in Mumbai and Bengaluru,” he said after being discharged from the hospital.

He had joined the BJP ahead of the Assembly election in Bengal in 2021.

“I won’t contest elections as a candidate this time. I will campaign for BJP in this state and other states in the country from 1 March,” he said after reporters wanted to know whether he would contest elections.

“People must raise their voice against what is happening in West Bengal,” he said when asked about the Sandeshkhali incident.
