State minister Indranil Sen on Saturday evening inaugurated a mortuary equipped with four refrigerated cabinets at Kodaichanditala in Chandannagar. Mortuary cabinets are low-temperature refrigerated cabinets that are used to keep bodies for a short or long time. Before the inauguration of the mortuary, one minute’s silence was observed in remembrance of the departed soul of former Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.
On the occasion were present Chandannagar Mayor Ram Chatterjee, Deputy Mayor Munna Aggarwal, members of the Bidhan Sabha Utsab Committee and other dignitaries. Mr Sen, speaking at the inauguration, pointed out how the state chief minister Mamata Banerjee has constantly laid emphasis on progress and development work and said she has expressed her satisfaction over the progress and development work undertaken in the Bidhan Sabha area. She has also extended her thanks to those who have actively extended their help and support to set up the mortuary at Chandannagar, Mr Sen said.
Mr Sen thanked the Chandannagar utsab committee and four benevolent personalities of the town for their valuable contribution towards setting up the mortuary. He also thanked the Chandannagar corporation for providing the location where the mortuary has come up.
