Greece reports first HMPV case
Greece has confirmed its first case of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in a 71-year-old man
The six-year-old granddaughter of the Trinamul Congress MLA Supti Pandey from Maniktala Assembly constituency in the city had HMPV (human metapneumovirus) infection a couple of weeks ago.

Shreya Pandey, daughter of the MLA, in a video message has informed that her daughter is getting well fast after medical treatment at their home. Shreya has advised people not to panic with the viral disease, according to reports published in the media on Wednesday.

She has also advised that it does not even require to be quarantined if someone gets the HMPV infection.
Her child had shown symptoms of cough and cold with loss of appetite from 15 December. Fearing something unusual in terms of her symptoms she underwent a test called biofire respiratory panel 2.1 to confirm whether she had any viral infection. The test results confirmed the child was infected by the HMPV infection.
Biofire respiratory panel 2.1 test provides rapid results and can identify several viral and bacterial infections in a single test. The procedure can help doctors quickly diagnose respiratory infections including COVID-19, influenza, RSV and many others.
