Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for shedding crocodile tears for the women of Sandeshkhali, Chandrima Bhattacharya, president Trinamul Mahila Congress, said, “Prime Minister has taken the name of Raja Rammohan Roy, who fought against sati pratha. His activities were not confined to Bengal only. It was a pan-India movement. We have seen how Modi ji had reacted to the women of Manipur and Unnao and Hathras. Forget about visiting the place, he took 79 days to make a statement on Manipur where women were paraded naked. In Unnao and Hathras women had been gang-raped. He was silent on the matter,” she said.
On a day when the Prime Minister is in Bengal, the ruling party questioned him about the MGNREGA dues. They also asked about his intent to suspend CBI-charge sheeted MLA Suvendu Adhikari.
They asked, “When will you listen to Man Ki Baat of our deprived MGNREGA beneficiaries. Despite your govt. stopping funds, Mamata Banerjee-led govt by today will clear dues of all deprived MGNREGA beneficiaries in the state and will you suspend CBI-FIR named Suvendu Adhikari today from your party or share the stage with him to prove your Modi ki guarantee to shelter corrupt people?”
Meanwhile, party sources said in 9 gram panchayats of Aarambagh, govt camps /events will take place where the MGNREGA beneficiaries will be called, who have been given money till now and will be shown a video which will highlight how TMC-led state govt is fighting for them and their rights against Centre’s step-motherly attitude.
The party had the hashtag #AayeHoTohBataKeJao for the PM.
