West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday remembered Indian freedom activist and Congress Party leader Motilal Nehru on his 87th death anniversary.
Banerjee took to Twitter saying, “Solemnly remembering freedom activist Motilal Nehru on his death anniversary”.
Motilal Nehru was born on 6 May 1861.
He was an Indian lawyer, an activist of the Indian Independence Movement and a leader of the Indian National Congress. Motilal Nehru had also served as the Congress President twice, 1919–1920 and 1928–1929.
He died on 6 February in Lucknow. He was the founder patriarch of the Nehru-Gandhi political family.
His son Jawaharlal Nehru went on to become the the first Prime Minister of independent India, who remained the PM of India till his death in 1964.
