14th Siliguri Mahakuma Book Fair begins 30 Nov
The state-sponsored 14th Siliguri Mahakuma Book Fair is set to take place from 30 November to 6 December 2024 at Baghajatin Park.
The book features more than 200 Rabindra Sangeet songs, which the reader can listen to after scanning a QR code with a smartphone.

Rabindraganer Antarale has been written by Dr Purnendu Sarkar, a well known eye surgeon in Kolkata. Ananda Publishers/Signet Press has brought out the unique collection and the book is a star attraction in the International Kolkata Book Fair.

The book contains altogether 205 Rabindra Sangeet songs, and has a detailed history of each piece. Every detail about the song like the year and time of composition, how Tagore’s health was when he had composed the song, the then political and socio cultural scenario of that time, who were there with the poet at the time of writing the song among other information are laid out in the book.
Besides the songs, 18 well known elocutionists have recited poems written by Tagore. Among the eminent Rabindrasangeet exponents who have sung the songs are Aditi Gupta, Dr Ananda Gupta, Aloke Roychowdhury, Arnab Roy, Arpita Mukhopadhyay, Prabuddha Raha, Pubali Debnath, Subrata Mukherjee among others.
Some of the renowned elocutionists who have recited the poems of Tagore included Partha Mukhopadhyay, Barnali Sarkar, Swati Pal among others.Dr Sarkar said the book was a combination of history and technology. A reader will be able to listen to the songs by scanning the QR code.
Earlier Dr Sarkar had published Gitabitan Archive which contains more than 2000 songs composed by Tagore in a single DVD. The book is a hot favourite among the visitors as they can listen toRabindrasangeet directly from the book
